The event is sponsored by IMADR, Human Rights Watch and Minority Rights Group, co-sponsored by Germany, Canada, Norway, Finland and Denmark and organized in association with IDSN. This side event offers a unique opportunity to explore the cross-cutting and intersecting nature and forms of gender and caste-based discrimination and to discuss what the international community can do to effectively address this entrenched problem.
Statements will be presented on behalf of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Navi Pillay, and the Special Rapporteur on Violence against Women. Panelists include Ambassador Hanns Heinrich Schumacher (Germany) and representatives of affected communities.
We are a delegation of 10 Dalit women from Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan and India who will be participating in this process.
