Call for Articles: Book on Feminism in the Indian Context

SAVARI Editorial Team

SAVARI invites articles for the forthcoming book on Feminism in the Indian Context.

Feminism in the Indian context has had a contentious relationship with anti-caste assertions. SAVARI continues the critical positions held by Bahujan women against dominant narratives and has consistently unpacked the upper caste nature of feminism in India and its unrelatability for the Bahujan. In recent times, feminism has targeted all attempts by Bahujan to organize around the political goal of annihilation of caste. We invite our readers and writers to join us in thinking about the relevance and function of feminism in a caste society.

Potential questions that the articles can address (but are not limited to) are:

Is there a feminist positioning and feminist history in India that believes in and practices equality of men and women?

Does annihilation of caste require feminist theories and terminologies? As a corollary, if feminism, even as a reformed variant, is necessary in a caste society, how does it aid in annihilation of caste?

Please write in your thoughts to savarigroup@gmail.com

Deadline: September 15, 2020

Authors of accepted articles will be intimated by September 21.
